Double the Honors: Riverside Homes Custom Wins Prestigious Houzz and NEFBA Laurel Awards
Cue the confetti! 2023 is already shaping up to be another milestone year for our Riverside Homes Custom team. We are pleased to announce that we have won two prestigious honors, being named as a 2023 Best of Houzz Award Winner by Houzz and a Laurel Award Winner by NEFBA’s Sales & Marketing Council.
This year marked Riverside Homes Custom’s sixth consecutive year as a Best of Houzz Award Winner. Just 3% of Houzz’s 3 million active home professionals win Best of Houzz awards each year. We were honored to receive the “Best of Houzz” award for both Design and Customer Service from Houzz, the leading platform for home renovation and design. Each year the prestigious “Best of Houzz” Awards (Houzz’s version of a people’s choice award) are presented to top-rated professionals and popular home designs around the world.
Awards presented for Design are based on the popularity of photos uploaded to Houzz, while Service is based on several factors including a pro’s overall rating on Houzz and client reviews submitted in 2022. The Design award is categorized by room category and metro area. You can find our winning designs in the Kids, Laundry Room, Powder Room, Bathroom, Hall, Porch, Entry, Sunroom, and Living Room categories in the Jacksonville metro area.
“Best of Houzz 2023” badges appear on winners’ profiles as a sign of their commitment to excellence. These badges help the more than 65 million homeowners and home design enthusiasts on Houzz to identify popular and top-rated home professionals for their projects.

Riverside Homes Custom’s second recognition of the year was just as meaningful as our team was presented with the Laurel Award for Best One-of-a-Kind Custom Home (3,500-5,000 sf) at the annual Laurel Awards Event held by NEFBA’s Sales and Marketing Council. Built in picturesque Amelia Island, The Spartina Retreat was the award-winning home design that stole the show.
Inspired by the region, Spartina Retreat, is a perfect example of traditional Florida architecture that creates an easy flow between the indoors and out. This true Southern beauty is perched on an ideal spot in the luxury master-planned Amelia Island community of Crane Island. This home showcases many of the best qualities in the 2019 Southern Living Idea House, also built by Riverside Homes Custom – capturing the authenticity of a Lowcountry home while maximizing exposure to the island. The design and placement of this home on this lot was done with the upmost care for the existing maritime forest while providing an opportunity for its owners to enjoy the natural beauty of the island by providing ample space for paths, access to adjacent park spaces, and access to the intracoastal waterway and surrounding marsh habitat. With a nod to nearby Fernandina Beach’s historic vernacular, Architect, Mike Stauffer, designed Spartina Retreat to take its cues from the canopy of century old oaks accented with Spanish moss and palm fronds, and embody a refined coastal aesthetic. In partnership with Carrier Design Co., the home’s interior design details are thoughtfully and classically done with a Lowcountry twist suitable for a modern family.
