Designing the Future
Meet the visionary force shaping the future of luxury custom home design at Riverside Homes Custom—Sammie Janica, our dynamic new Director of Operations and Design. From the tender age of nine, Sammie’s inherent passion for interior design became the catalyst for her exceptional career in the home building industry. Smiling, she shared, “I would constantly rearrange and reorganize my bedroom, and would try to do the same with other areas inside my childhood home whenever possible.”
This innate flair propelled her to The Art Institute, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design in 2015. Fast forward to spring 2022, and Sammie proudly claimed the NCIDQ certification, the pinnacle of achievement in the interior design industry. Sammie’s commitment to excellence is reflected in her membership with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and a leadership certification from Crestcom’s bullet-proof manager course.
With nearly a decade of experience as an interior designer, Sammie is a seasoned professional specializing in the art of luxury custom home design.
“I am excited to begin a new and exciting chapter as the Director of Operations and Design with Riverside Homes Custom,” expressed Sammie. “Joining this esteemed and professional team is an honor. 2024 continues to be a monumental year for our Riverside Homes Custom team. We are thrilled to announce that we have once again been honored as a Best of Houzz Award Winner, securing our seventh consecutive win on the renowned platform for home renovation and design.
Just over 2% of Houzz’s 3 million active home professionals receive this prestigious accolade annually. We proudly accepted the “2024 Best of Houzz” award for both Design and Customer Service categories. Each year the “Best of Houzz” Awards (Houzz’s version of a people’s choice award) are bestowed upon top-rated professionals and popular home designs worldwide. While the Design award is influenced by the popularity of photos on Houzz, the Service award considers factors such as overall ratings and client reviews submitted in 2023.

2024 Southern Living Home Summit
Matt Birdwell, President of Riverside Homes Custom, was in attendance at the Southern Living Home Summit, representing our company’s dedication to staying at the forefront of industry trends and innovations. This year, the Southern Living Custom Builder Program celebrated a milestone 30th anniversary, a testament to its enduring commitment to excellence in custom home construction.
Attendees at the Southern Living Home Summit were privy to a wealth of insights into current design trends as well as product spotlights. Sherwin Williams introduced their color of the year, “Upward,” while GE showcased their innovative One and Done washer dryer combo, boasting space-saving features and minimal electrical requirements. James Hardie delighted attendees with the return of their “Artisan” series siding, which resumed production after a hiatus during the pandemic. Pella also teased attendees with the upcoming launch of a new installation method, promising further convenience and efficiency.
